Plan a special Valentine’s Day dinner for your family!
Last year, I decided that Tyler and I would go out on a Valentine’s Day dinner date each year for the fun of it (I’ve always loved Valentine’s Day, even when I was single!), and we also wanted to celebrate together with our family! I love holidays, and the window that we get to make the holidays truly magical for our kids is limited because they are only young for a short time. This family Valentine’s Day dinner idea can applied to any holiday, and we have made it a tradition to do it each year!
family Valentine’s Day dinner idea: FONDUE!
My kids thought this was HEAVEN last year! I can’t wait to do it again. I bought these fondue pots from Amazon because they had great reviews and they fit my aesthetic for my home. I only buy pretty items! I am particular about creating a pretty environment. There are lots of things that I can’t control, so I focus on what I CAN control. Being intentional about what I buy for our home is important to me. These fondue pots are pretty and functional, and work extremely well.
I wanted to have dessert and dinner all in one because we never do that; we always have dessert after dinner (and not every day). My kids thought this was the best thing ever! I bought 2 fondue pots so I could have one cheese pot and one chocolate pot.
For the chocolate fondue, I simply melted down our favorite milk chocolate Guittard chocolate chips by putting them in a microwave safe dish and melting, then stirring, in 10 second increments in the microwave. When the chocolate chips were melted, I poured the chocolate into the fondue pot to keep it warm.
This year, I am going to try THIS cheese fondue recipe. Last year, I bought a cheese mix from Harmon’s, one of our local grocery stores, and it wasn’t great. Ha! This one seems much more simple and would be good for simple tastebuds (like my kids).
fondue dipping ideas
Savory: Cauliflower, carrot sticks, deli meat rolled up, pretzels, broccoli, crusty bread
Sweet: Strawberries, pretzels (can go sweet or savory!), graham crackers, brownies, cookies
