I had a professional organizing team come organize my house last year and they did an incredible job. They introduced me to this label maker that they use on all of their projects and it has truly made it possible to create systems that are sustainable for me to keep my home organized. It has been such a great way for all of us in the family to stay on the same page about where everything goes.

Once you have your label maker (this is my favorite) and the tape needed (buy this kind for refills – it’s just as good and much more affordable), you can decide what you want to label. For me, this was anything that COULD be labeled! The reason for that is because I like to be able to give my family direction on where items go even when I’m not in the room. If there is a label that says “teeth” in a drawer in your children’s bathroom, they know that all items pertaining to taking care of their teeth go in that drawer.
Keep items updated and know that your home will change as your needs change, and that’s okay! I had all of my black leggings in a drawer together, and I decided to label them by legging type (pockets, without pockets and different brands because I wear each for different activities), and it has made getting dressed so much easier.
