Resources to Keep Your Home More Organized in Your Busy Life!
Keeping my home organized and tidy is really important to me because it frees up my brain space! I need to have a clutter-free environment as much as possible so I don’t have to constantly be managing my mind around the chaos and mess. I used to be bothered that I’m so obsessed with organization until last year when I finally decided to embrace it and take action to actually do things that would help me feel better about it!! It’s amazing what happens when you accept who God made you to be. If you have certain inclinations, work with your brain instead of criticizing it. I hope these tips help you as much as they have helped me.
Resources to Keep Your Home More Organized
- My favorite organizer is Tracy Bowers. She does it for a living and has a busy home organization company. I had her come in to organize my home last year, but I also love that she provides so many tips online that you can also do it yourself. She is a really great follow and her brain just works so amazingly well when it comes to creating solutions in your home that are easy to keep up! I’ve been able to keep my home organized since I’ve been abiding by her home organizing principles. There are a few things I’ve changed as well, that I realized after living in it, that would work best for me. This is her Instagram account here.
- I bought this book last year after I had a recommendation from a friend, and not only is it a gorgeous book to keep out on your tables or night stands as decor, but it is also the most helpful book! If you need a step-by-step guide on organizing your home, I highly recommend this book. She provides so many incredible mindset shifts as well, and is actually certified in the same life coach school as I am (The Life Coach School) so I really stand by what she teaches because I know how helpful it is!
- One major shift I made in my thinking over the past few months is to include clean up time as part of the activity, whether that be getting ready for the day (my makeup tutorial is here) or making dinner for your family. I used to leave out the mess after I was done making it, telling myself that I would clean up later, but I no longer do that because I just ended up with a big mess! I now am very intentional about cleaning up and including that in the activity and not moving on until I have. It has made a massive difference!
- This label maker is the BEST one I’ve ever owned. It’s the one that Tracy uses and recommended to me as well, and I love that you can buy different tape to insert into it depending on your style or where you are labeling in your home. This brand works incredibly well and is so much less expensive than others I’ve seen so make sure you buy this brand when you are ordering refills. I label everything. In my bathroom cupboards, I label where items are supposed to go, for example – first aid, teeth, soap, shampoo and conditioner, etc, in each cupboard. In my pantry, I label the bins that each item is supposed to go in. If you don’t label things, it makes it much easier for everyone in the family to get confused, put things back in the wrong place, and then not have sustainable system. Labeling is a GAME changer for literally every room in your house. I even label inside my kid’s drawers – shorts, underwear, leggings, etc. I label my drawers – leggings with pockets, leggings without pockets, etc. It makes getting ready in the morning super simple as well when you are not rummaging around trying to find what you need! This has simplified my life IMMENSELY and I highly recommend starting to label.
