“Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.” – Henry Ford. Setting my goals for 2019 and narrowing down the focus to an attainable mindset that applies to all aspects of my life is really exciting for me this year in 2019!

This year, instead of making a ton of specific goals, I am simplifying. Based on my good friend Courtney’s recommendation, I am choosing a word that will be my intent for the year, and it will apply to all aspects of my life. Are you ready for it? The anticipation is just a killer, isn’t it? 😉
My word for this year is INTENTIONAL.
It’s a word that has been thrown around a lot in the most recent years because I think it’s something that we NEED. Desperately. There is so much to distract us in the world now. Instead of just having to think and worry about the basics and our survival like people many years ago (planting crops, gathering food, finding water), we now have SO much at our disposal and the challenge is to choose what to focus on, even if it’s GOOD things we are choosing between. It’s a good challenge, but a challenge regardless. We still only have 24 hours in a day. It’s hard for me to narrow down what I want to focus my time on, so I can end up feeling torn between a lot of great different options.
I chose the word intentional to focus on because I want to be intentional about what I’m spending my time on, and when I’m spending my time on it, I want to be there. Present. Not thinking about whether I chose the right thing for that moment, but committed to that moment and at peace because the decision was made. I’m really excited about this mind shift and I know that it will be hard, but I also know that our minds are incredibly powerful and we can do what we set our minds to do. It’s an exciting idea!
